Located in Fussa, Tokyo, Baseside Dental Office operates under the philosophy: “Less repair, more care.” We are a dental practice dedicated to providing precise, patient-centered care — in both English and Japanese. Situated adjacent to Yokota Air Base, we proudly serve U.S. military personnel and their families, foreign residents, and local Japanese patients throughout the Fussa area.
The Meaning Behind Our Name
“Baseside” reflects both our physical location — beside Yokota Air Base — and our clinical philosophy of building a strong base for each patient’s oral health.
Rather than simply treating problems as they arise, we focus on protecting your teeth through regular comprehensive exams, preventive care, and thorough communication. Our goal is to be a long-term partner in your oral health — not just a place you visit when something goes wrong.

Why We Started
Dr. Daiki Tanaka, our founder and director, previously worked at a dental practice in Azabudai serving diplomats and international patients. That experience gave him a deep appreciation for what it means to receive healthcare in a foreign country — navigating unfamiliar language, customs, and systems, often under the stress of an unexpected dental problem.
Dr. Tanaka started Baseside Dental Office with a simple goal: to make sure that everyone in this community has access to high-quality dental care they can truly understand, in a language and custom they are comfortable with.
Our Philosophy
At Baseside Dental Office, we believe that informed patients make better decisions. That’s why every new patient visit includes a comprehensive examination — featuring intraoral photos, bite-wing X-rays, a dental CT scan, digital impressions, an oral cancer screening, and an airway screening. We walk you through every finding using your own images, so you can see exactly what we see.
We never rush treatment decisions. Our role is to give you the information you need, explain your options clearly, and support whatever direction you choose.

Practice Highlights
Fully Bilingual — English & Japanese
Dr. Tanaka is fully fluent in both English and Japanese. Every aspect of your visit — from the exam to treatment planning to follow-up — can be conducted in either language.
Comprehensive Diagnostics
We use dental CBCT, intraoral scanning, and oral photography to give you a complete picture of your oral health — including areas that standard X-rays can’t show.
Preventive Dentistry
Twice-yearly check-ups, GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy) airflow cleanings, and airway screenings form the foundation of how we practice dentistry.
Periodontal & Implant Specialist
Dr. Tanaka holds certification from the Japanese Society of Periodontology and brings specialized expertise in implant placement and periodontal disease management.
